Ricky Crippin, 67, of Danville, Illinois, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Arcadia Care, in Danville, Illinois.

He was born March 7, 1957, at Danville, Illinois, the son of Thomas and Marilyn “Jackie” (Thomas) Crippin. He was previously married to Gloria Mockbee in 1976. She preceded him in death Jan. 29, 2022.

He is survived by son Jason (Heather) Crippin of Waynetown; daughter Jennifer Echevarria of Danville; four grandchildren, Colin Crippin, Brandon (Autumn) Grabhorn, Emma Lacombe and Ricky Echevarria; two great-grandchildren, Silvia Grabhorn and Ryleigh Helka; brother Terry (Sandy) Crippin of Fairmount; two sisters, Vickie Quick of Oakwood and Judy Moreman of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Joshua Crippin; brothers, Randy Crippin and Tom Crippin Jr.; and nephew Randy Moreman.

Ricky graduated from Catlin High School. He served in the United States Army Reserve.

Throughout his life Ricky worked many different jobs. He worked in a scrap yard, on the railroad, as a heavy equipment operator, and as a truck driver. He even had his own home improvement business at one time.

He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to shoot, hunt, fish and ride his motorcycle. He was never afraid to work on something himself, rather than pay someone else to do it.

He always had an open door for all his family and friends, and he never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by anyone who crossed his path.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 23 at Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac, Illinois. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest following the services in Potomac Cemetery.
