Indiana State Police arrested a 28-year-old Crawfordsville man Tuesday on multiple drug charges after a search of his home turned up evidence of a marijuana growing and dealing operation.

William “Billy” A. Perkins was booked into the Montgomery County Jail at 3:47 p.m. on preliminary felony charges of dealing marijuana/hashish/salvia/synthetic cannabinoid and maintaining a common nuisance, and a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana/hashish/salvia/synthetic cannabinoid.

He posted a $2,000 cash only bond within two hours of being booked.

The arrest came after Indiana State Police SWAT officers executed a search warrant Tuesday morning at a home at 510 Binford St. where Perkins is accused of growing and selling marijuana. Nobody was home at the time the search warrant was executed, according to an ISP law enforcement official. The official said Perkins had just left prior and was stopped shortly after with his infant son.

Police confiscated approximately 25 marijuana plants, processed edibles and a firearm.

Perkins was convicted last year for possession of marijuana in Parke County. He was charged in Montgomery County for intimidation, criminal recklessness and resisting law enforcement during a 2010 incident in which he pulled a knife on a neighbor who confronted Perkins about driving aggressively through their neighborhood.

Perkins also faced charges in Montgomery County, including theft, retaining stolen property, trespassing, leaving the scene of a property damage crash and public nudity, in three different cases between 2008-09.

Formal charges from Tuesday’s arrest had not yet been filed as of Wednesday.
