A Crawfordsville man died Friday after he lost control of the dirt bike he was operating and struck a tree on private property.
According to a press release issued early Sunday morning by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher A. Cope, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in the 300 block of west County Road 300S.
Deputies were called to Cope’s property at approximately 7:43 p.m. and when they arrived they learned he had been operating his 2020 KTM dirt bike when he lost control and struck a tree.
Cope was alone on the dirt bike at the time of the crash.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Crawfordsville Fire Department, Indiana State Police and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
