Two Montgomery County residents were among five recognized by Tau Beta Sigma, Beta Sigma chapter, with their initiation as honorary members at Purdue University.

Honorees included Purdue Bands & Orchestras Clinical Assistant Professor Dr. Lucas Petersen of West Lafayette, (Conductor of the Varsity Band and Collegiate Band, Director of the Gold and Black Sound and Boiler Box Band, Assistant Director of the “All-American” Marching Band); PBO Director of Auxiliaries, Assistant Director of Operations, Twirling Coach Morgan Asher Loetz of West Lafayette; PBO Director of External Relations Trudy Guthrie of Crawfordsville, AES 500 Festival Parade Co-Chair Dr. Mark Eutsler of Linden, and Clinical Assistant Professor Dr. David M. Blon of West Lafayette (Conductor of the Concert Band, Assistant Conductor of the Wind Ensemble).

Founded in 1946, Tau Beta Sigma is a co-educational national honorary band sorority dedicated to serving college and band programs.  TBS is a co-educational national honorary band sorority. It is a student service and leadership recognition society whose chief aim is to assist the Director of Bands in developing the leadership and enthusiasm that they require of their band. Active chapter members provide the band with organized and concentrated service activities while providing experiences in organization, leadership and social contacts.
