Art Explorers offers opportunity for youth

Posted

The season is changing and many youth are anxiously awaiting fall break. While this is a great time to recharge and relax, it can also be a time to learn new skills and even get creative. In an effort to give youth an opportunity to do just that, I am excited to offer our first Art Explorers program for youth during the upcoming fall break.

Through a partnership with Shop Small Shop Handmade LLC, this program will give youth a hands-on opportunity to learn from local artists and create their own unique pieces. Research has shown that participation in art activities can help “build resiliency and contribute to positive mental wellbeing of children and young people.”

This program will take place 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 21-23 at Shop Small Shop Handmade, 124 N. Green St. This unique opportunity is for any youth currently in grades 4-6 and costs $70/participant. This cost includes all materials and artwork that they youth will create during the program. It will also cover the cost of any refreshments provided. Due to limited space, we can only take the first 15 participants that register.

Have a youth that would love this opportunity to get creative? Register them at https://artexplorers24.4honline.com. The deadline to get signed up and paid is Oct. 18. If you have any questions about registration, the program, contact Abby Morgan at asweet@purdue.edu or 765-364-6363.
