Dr. Agata Izabela Brewer, a professor at Wabash College, spoke to the Crawfordsville Rotary Club about her recently published book entitled "The Hunger Book" A Memoir from Communist Poland. Brewer grew up in Communist Poland. Her parents were divorced. Her mother was an alcoholic and her father lived in another city. Her story includes foraging for food, trying to help her mother, poor shelter and constant fear of being taken away from family.

Kelly Taylor, executive director of the Montgomery County Community Foundation, spoke to the Crawfordsville Rotary Club about the plans for a Montgomery County Early Learning Center to be built on South Boulevard. A goal of the foundation is “improving the quality life conditions of the people in Montgomery County.” MCCF was started in 1991 and manages more than 300 endowed funds. A major concern of families and businesses is that Montgomery County is a “child care desert.” Child care is key to a robust economy and successful businesses. More than $4 million has been raised for construction of a Montgomery County Learning Center to help meet the child care needs of 2,000 children under the age of 5. Construction is planned to begin in April and the center to open in 2025. Tom Klein also is pictured.
