Yoga class to benefit Recovery Rec Center

Posted

Jeanne Servais will lead a donation-based all-levels vinyasa flow class 5:30-6:45 p.m. June 20 at Quest for Balance Yogo Studio, 2886 S. U.S. 231, Crawfordsville.

“The road to recovery can be rough terrain,” said Jennifer York, a parole officer in Montgomery County, board member for the Recovery Rec Center, and avid yogini. “Recovering addicts got behind the idea for the center and helped to raise funds for it. Two grants will help the center get through the first year, but much more will be needed to sustain operations.”

“We have a challenging goal to raise one month’s rent for the center, which is $900,” said Servais, co-owner and lead teacher at Quest for Balance. “I am optimistic that we will reach — and even exceed our goal — as we have already collected $230!”

Crawfordsville’s new Recovery Rec Center is a safe, supportive environment for those in recovery and still recovering from addiction. It is a drug-free, alcohol-free environment that provides support to help build positive relationships. It offers 12-step meetings, parenting support, resume assistance,

tutoring and nutrition classes.

Suggested minimum donation for the special class is $10, payable at the door. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat and bottle of water; some yoga experience recommended, but not required. JRH Massage will offer free 10-minute chair massages at Quest For Balance, before, during and after the yoga class. Sign up in advance for a chair massage at the studio.
