Witham promotes health, wellness among students with sponsorship

WHITESTOWN, Ind. – Witham’s commitment to the health and welfare of our community has led to the sponsorship of Traders Point Christian Schools (TPCS). This is one of many initiatives being addressed to meet the Communities’ Health Needs Assessment, an appeal from our citizens, for healthier lifestyle education for our children. Witham is currently providing Fitnessgram Testing to over 4,000 students in elementary schools in our county. This sponsorship will aid in continuing this investment in our children who will lead our communities in the future. In recognition of their sponsorship contribution TPCS has granted exclusive naming rights of their brand new state-of-the-art athletic field for the next ten years. The field will be referred to ‘Witham Field’ and will be visible on large signage at the entry into the stadium and on the press box.

The official announcement will be made prior to the TPCS homecoming football game at 6:45.

The field is one of the first and only Shaw Sports Turfs in Indiana. Shaw is a leader in its industry and Shaw turf fields can be found in stadiums for the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, Vanderbilt University and now Butler University. The turf surface is designed to provide safety as well as performance benefits and features a new, state-of-the-art cooling system to help control the heat on the field to further protect student athletes. This high performance turf system is also engineered to allow for versatility of use between multiple sports, enabling it to be used for all outdoor field sports at all levels, as well as use for community sporting events.

“We are so grateful to Witham Health Services for embarking on such a significant partnership that will focus on the health and wellness of students for years to come,” said Chief Advancement Officer, Ryan Gallagher. “This goes well beyond naming rights. Witham Health Services will be partnering with us in many ways on different health and wellness initiatives in the future.”

The new field is only part of Traders Point Christian Schools’ Foundation for the Future Campaign. Governor Mike Pence and other community leaders were on hand earlier in May of this year as Traders Point Christian Schools broke ground on its new, state-of-the-art $7.5 Million high school campus that will lead the way in innovative learning. The 21st century design will feature a two-story da Vinci Studio art, science and technology lab, active hands-on learning areas and a campfire area for Socratic Method teaching and learning. The new high school, currently well under construction, is scheduled to open August 2017.
