A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Central Indiana, including Montgomery County, from 8:00 a.m. Sunday through noon Monday.

Snow will develop around 4:00 a.m. Sunday morning across the western part of Indiana and move into central Indiana by 8:00 a.m. Snow will become heavy Sunday afternoon through Sunday night. A rain snow mix is likely on Sunday afternoon before changing to all snow. Snow will continue through Monday.

Snow accumulations of 5-9” are expected in Indianapolis and across the rest of central Indiana, including Crawfordsville and the surrounding area. This accumulation will may make some roads impassable and blowing wind will reduce visibility greatly, making travel extremely hazardous.

Montgomery County Sheriff Mark Casteel said with each passing storm, area drivers have had less and less problems.

“We’re not really making any

special arrangements this time around,” he said. “If drivers allow themselves a little more time to get where they’re going and drive slowly, they should be fine.”

The weekend starts off nice and sunny, with a high of 46 today. But Gulf moisture will bring some snow starting early Sunday morning.

Temperatures will remain in the thirties and forties through next week.
