The Crawfordsville Fire Department received a check May 14 for $3,000 from the MCCA for the Home Paramedicine Program.

The Crawfordsville Community Paramedicine program is a collaborative and innovative approach at patient-centered, out-of-hospital healthcare by Crawfordsville paramedics and EMS. In-home health visits by EMS drastically reduces emergency room visits and hospital re-admission rates. These however are just a small scope of what this innovative program does for our community and seniors. The goal is to help patients better manage their care and find additional resources when needed.

“What we are providing here in Crawfordsville can become a model of care for the rest of the country,” said Paul Miller, EMTP. “To-date, the program has seen a 98 percent reduction in patient ER and hospital visits. In addition, we have seen a reduction in the number of ambulance runs for non-life-threatening issues, which in turn can decrease costs to tax payers.”
