The following retail health inspection reports were released by the local health department. All violations have been corrected.

Dairy Queen, 1560 S. U.S. 231. Inspected April 26. 

• Critical: Observed manager not knowing how long hot holding time was. Corrective action: Person in charge must be knowledgeable in food safety. 

• Critical: Observed employee without hair restraint. Corrective action: All employees cooking or in the cooking station must have on hair restraints. 

• Non-critical: Observed coney sauce that looked old and overcooked in the hot holding unit-employee stated that the coney sauce was there this morning when opening. Coney sauce was thrown away. 

• Non-critical: Observed cutting board at cooking station badly scored. Corrective action: Cutting board must be replaced as often as necessary. 

• Non-critical: Observed walk in cooler and freezer with excessive food debris inside of it. Ice machine with mold like substance on the inside lip. Blaster with excessive melted ice cream. Excessive salt debris above the French fry holder. Corrective action: Walk in cooler/freezer, ice machine, blaster and above the French fries must be cleaned and sanitized on a regular basis. 

• Critical: Observed a very thick mold like substance in the tray of the pop machine in lobby. Observed ice cream cart with excessive ice cream debris. Observed ice cream station with excessive food debris (On top, and underneath in refrigeration unit). Corrective action: Ice cream station, pop machine, ice cream cart must be washed and sanitized on a nightly basis.

• Non-critical: Observed microwave with excessive food debris inside. Corrective action: Microwave must be cleaned and sanitized on a nightly basis.

• Non-critical: Observed hand sink over in the ice cream area with food debris in it. Corrective action: Hand sink must be used for only washing hands.

• Non-critical: Observed the physical facilities in bad shape, lots of food, grime and dirt through-out the kitchen, under racks, under refrigeration units, in refrigeration units. Kitchen area is not being cleaned on a nightly basis. Corrective action: Physical facilities must be cleaned on a nightly basis.

 

County Market, 451 E. South Blvd. Inspected May 4. 

• No new objectionable conditions observed.

 

Kroger, 1660 Crawfordsville Square Drive. Inspected May 2. 

• Non-critical: Observed a missing thermometer in hot holding deli. Corrective action: All hot holding equipment and refrigeration/freezer must have thermometers.

• Non-critical: Observed a condensation leak in the walk in freezer in the bakery. Corrective action: Condensation leak must be fixed.

 

Darlington Mini Mart, 4483 N. County Road 625E, Darlington. Inspected May 5.

• Non-critical: Observed mixing bowls not stored inverted. Corrective action: Equipment must be stored upside down.

• Non-critical: Observed the Capaciousness maker (hot chocolate, English Toffee) with excessive mix debris in the spout. Corrective action: Cappuccino maker must be cleaned and sanitized nightly.

 

Crawfordsville Country Club

3272 W. Country Club Road. Inspected May 11.

• Critical: Observed employees not wearing hair restraints. Corrective action: Hair restraints must be worn at all time when cooking or prepping food.

• Critical: Observed frozen corn on the floor in the walk in freezer. Corrective action: All food must be off the floor six inches.

• Non-critical: Observed badly scored cutting boards at both of the salad prep areas. Corrective action: Cutting boards must be replaced.

• Non-critical: Observed missing two missing thermometers in the salad prep stations. Corrective action: All refrigeration units and freezers must have thermometers.

• Non-critical: Observed ice machine downstairs with a mold like substance. Corrective action: Ice machine must be cleaned as often as necessary to prevent mold growth.

• Non-critical: Observed hand sink next to stairwell with old food debris in it. Corrective action: Hand sink can only be used as a hand sink.

• Non-critical: Observed food debris, dirt, grime on the floor and on the refrigerators, freezers, coolers. Corrective action: The facility must be cleaned and sanitized as often as necessary to maintain a healthy environment for cooking and serving food, and preventing a food borne illness.

 

K&K Cafe, 103 W. Washington St., Waynetown. Inspected May 11.

• Non-critical: Observed three missing thermometers. Corrective action: Thermometers must be in every refrigerator, freezer and hot holding area.

• Non-critical: Observed three lights (ballast) out. One in the kitchen and two in the dining area. Corrective action: All light ballast must be fixed.

 

Walmart Subway, 1835 S. U.S. 231. Inspected May 12. 

• No new objectionable conditions observed.

• Non-critical: Observed food debris in the microwave station in the deli.

 

Hudson’s Grocery, 101 W. Washington St., Waynetown. Inspected May 16.

• Critical: Observed employee behind meat counter without hair restraint or beard guard. Corrective action: Must have hair restraints and beard guards when cooking, preparing, cutting food.

• Critical: Employee stated that he doesn’t wear gloves when making sandwiches. Corrective action: Gloves must be worn when making a ready to eat sandwich.

• Non-critical: Observed a box of eggs on the floor in walk-in cooler. Corrective action: All food must be off floor by six inches.

• Non-critical: Observed hamburger thawing on the counter. 

• Non-critical: Observed no sanitizer test strips for the bleach. Corrective action: Must have sanitizer test strips.

• Non-critical: Observed hand sink without hand soap. Corrective action: Hand sink must have soap.

 

Scobee Meats, 205 Waynetown Road. Inspected May 16.

• Critical: Observed employee cups without lids. Corrective action: Except when not close to food, all cups must have lids on them.

• Non-critical: Observed eggs sitting on fajita shells in the cooler.

•Non-critical: Observed bacon, grilled chicken and fish wrapped in tin foil and not identified. Corrective action: All food items must be protected, date marked and identified.

• Critical: Observed ice cream machine holding ice cream mix at 48 degrees. Corrective action: Ice cream mix must be discarded. Temperature must be 41 degrees or under.

• Non-critical: Observed outdated tartar sauce in the cooler.

• Non-critical: Observed mixing bowls and a pan not inverted. Corrective action: Mixing bowls and pans must be inverted.

• Non-critical: Observed a box of cups on the floor. Corrective action: All single service items must be off floor 6 inches.

• Non-critical: Observed microwave in kitchen with a liquid spilled on the inside. Corrective action: Microwave must be cleaned and sanitized as often as needed and at least every 24 hours.

• Non-critical: Observed a condensation leak in the walk-in freezer. Corrective action: Condensation leak must be fixed.

• Non-critical: Observed a gap with the screen door that would allow rodents to enter. Corrective action: Must not be a gap between the bottom of the screen door and the floor.

• Critical: Observed a bottle with sanitizer not properly labeled. Corrective action: All bottles holding chemicals must be properly identified.

 

Waynetown Bar & Grill, 622 W. Washington St., Waynetown. Inspected May 16.

• Non-critical: Observed a missing thermometer on the stand up freezer unit on refrigerator. Corrective action: All refrigerator/freezer units must have thermometer.

• Non-critical: Observed no sanitizer test strips. Corrective action: Must have sanitizer test strips to test sanitizer.

• Non-critical: Observed microwave with food debris on the inside, and the outside needs to be cleaned. Corrective action: Microwave must be cleaned nicely.

• Non-critical: Observed trash can in bathroom in the kitchen without a lid. Corrective action: Trash can must have lid.

• Non-critical: Observed general cleaning needing done on the prep coolers inside and out. Corrective action: All equipment must be maintained and cleaned as often as necessary.
