The Crawfordsville Fire Department’s Mobile Integrated Health team and Mayor Todd Barton presented at the 24th Rural Health Conference and Annual Membership Meeting on Tuesday at French Lick.
The presentation covered the program’s successful quick response team and how other rural Indiana communities can implement similar programming with their partners.
“The IRHA conference is a great opportunity to share our ideas, successes, and challenges with other rural communities who are facing similar health issues related to substance use, behavioral health, infant and maternal health, COVID-19, and more,” said Mobile Integrated Health Project Manager Samantha Cravens.
Crawfordsville’s Mobile Integrated Health program is a statewide and national leader in addressing rural health challenges. The program was launched as a pilot program for the state in 2017 through a grant from the Indiana Department of Health and has since built four strong initiatives focusing on chronic disease, perinatal services, substance use/behavioral health, and immunizations.
The Indiana Rural Health Association was organized in 1997 and works to improve the health of all Hoosiers in rural settings.
