CDPL launches adult summer reading program

Posted

It’s time to catch up with your reading and earn prizes for doing so. The Crawfordsville District Public Library is currently offering the adult summer reading program. This year the program will run until July 12 — eight weeks full of reading and fun activities to make your summer even more enjoyable. To join the program, you can create a free online account and register at cdpl.readsquared.com — you may do so using a personal device (laptop, tablet, phone, etc.) or use our public computers on the second floor. You may also download the ReadSquared app — available for iOS and Android devices. Not very fond of technology? We have a paper version as well. Stop by the Ref desk, and we can register you for the summer program.

This year, the program consists of reading 60 minutes every week and entering the information every week on your ReadSquared account (use your own device, or call us for assistance). This qualifies you for a weekly prize-drawing. Feeling like a super reader? Read 120 minutes per week to receive two tickets for the weekly prize-drawing. Raffles are held Mondays, and winners are contacted by CDPL staff. If you are planning on a fully immersive experience, the ReadSquared app has mini games and online escape rooms you can complete in order to earn bonus raffle tickets.

Additionally, we have planned quite a few fun programs and activities for adults and families to enjoy. Pick up or print out our “Tales and Tails Bingo Card” and work towards earning tickets for our grand prize drawing at the end of the program. Complete one row to earn one ticket, three rows will award you two tickets or complete the entire card and earn three tickets for the grand prize drawing. Other summer activities include the animal sketchbook project, weekly crafts (coloring, animal portraits, origami, etc.), patron polls about their favorite animals, programs on Indiana natural life (common bees of Indiana and bluebirds of Indiana) and much more.

Check us out on the CDPL website (www.cdpl.lib.in.us) or join our social media pages (CvillePL on Facebook; crawfordsvillelibrary on Instagram). You may also reach us by email at ref@cdpl.lib.in.us or call us at 765-362-2242, ext. 117. We hope to see you soon.
