Board OKs demolition contract

Posted

Members of the Board of Public Works & Safety accepted a bid Wednesday from W Enterprises for the demolition of 512 and 700 Wayne Avenue.

The combined cost for both demolitions is approximately $32,000.

The two properities along Sugar Creek are among five recently purchased by the city due to the threat of high-bank erosion.

The city received a state grant to purchase the properities and remove the structures. Purchase and demolition costs are largely being covered by state funds.

Participation in the program has been voluntary.

In other business, the board:

• Accepted an agreement between in the city and the Arts Council of Indianapolis to fund a downtown mural. The city received $25,000 of READI funds through the art council for the project. The art council added approximately $8,300 additional funds and the Montgomery County Community Foundation added $10,000.

• Approved contract addendums with HWC Engineering Inc. for additional work at both Lincoln and Brickyard parks. The city will add $6,000 for the renovations at Lincoln Park and $4,000 for the creation of Brickyard Park. The contract amounts are hourly rates and stipulate they are not to exceed the approved amounts.

• Approved work order requests for mowing at the following properties: 201 McCormick Drive; 406 S. Walnut St.; 313 N. Grant Ave.; and 301-303 W. North St. All, except the Walnut Street property, have been once before this year.
