WEST LAFAYETTE — Four Montgomery County artists have been chosen to participate in the 10th annual Art on the Wabash to be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Tapawingo Park, a shaded riverside setting in West Lafayette. Admission is free, and free parking is available in the Wabash Landing parking garage.

The juried art fair will include works by 45 regional artists; live musical entertainment by Joe Peters, Paul Foster and Barrett Myers; and hands-on art projects for youth at the Purdue Galleries ArtCart.

Artwork will include glass, gourds, ink drawings, jewelry, metal and mixed media pieces. Others will exhibit and sell paintings, pastels, photography, pottery, sculpture and wood items.

Food and beverages will be supplied by EMT: Emergency Munchie Truck, Greyhouse Coffee & Supply Co., Parthenon Greek American Grill, People’s Brewing Company and The Pink Walrus.

Open to artists from a 15-county area and those who have previously participated, this year’s fair drew artists from Carroll, Cass, Fountain, Montgomery, Tippecanoe and White counties, and two returning from Ohio.

“The interest in Art on the Wabash from both artists and visitors brought us to this 10th anniversary milestone, one West Lafayette is quite proud of,” said mayor John Dennis. “Artists will be showcasing some amazingly creative pieces, and some will give demonstrations. We welcome area residents and visitors to enjoy a day of art and meeting artists in Tapawingo Park next to the Wabash River.”

Those attending may vote for their favorite artist. KitchenArt, The Store for Cooks, which supplies sponsorship funding for the event, also provides the prize for the People’s Choice Award.

“We appreciate the reputation we’ve earned for featuring exceptionally talented regional artists,” said Beverly Shaw, Art on the Wabash committee chair. “We promise an interesting day for browsing and shopping.”

Participating artists were chosen by juror Ralph Larmann, University of Evansville professor of art, who holds a bachelor’s in fine art from the University of Cincinnati and master’s from James Madison University. He is the author of “Gateways to Art” and two online art tutorials: “Art Studio Chalkboard” and “Figure Drawing Lab.” His art has been exhibited nationally and in the United Kingdom. The Art Museum of Greater Lafayette holds a piece he created in 2006, “Tobacco Bottoms,” in its permanent collection.

Two artists will be participating for the 10th year: Rebecca Brody and Mary Thomas Firestone, both from Tippecanoe County. Five artists will exhibit for the first time at Art on the Wabash: Dominick Andrisani, Anne Parks and Doug Winslow, all from Tippecanoe County, and John Oilar, Montgomery County.

Also selected to participate are artists Deb Achgill, Mike Altman, Jerrie Artz, Jeremy Ashcraft, Dave Barnett, Kathryn Bodine, Stacy Bogan, Jeff Boswell, Rena Brouwer, Carolyn Cason, Shirley Chapman, Coal Creek Clay (Rachel Schatko and Ingrid Craft), Phil Conlon, Terry Cruse, Dwayne Daehler, EB Bead and Metal Works (Evie and Beth McCord) and Kirstin Eisman.
