A three-year-old girl drowned Monday afternoon in an above ground swimming pool.
Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Crawfordsville Fire Department, were dispatched at approximately 3:28 p.m. Monday to a home in the 4000 block of west C.R. 600S regarding a drowning.
Upon arrival, deputies learned the child had been removed from the pool and was being tended to by medical personnel who transported her to Franciscan Health Crawfordsville. Despite lifesaving attempts by medical personnel, the child was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Crawfordsville Fire Department, Montgomery County Coroner, and Indiana Department of Child Services.
The investigation is ongoing and at this time, no criminal charges are expected.
Police are not releasing the name of the child.
