Dusk to Dawn founder announces retirement

Posted

In the ecclesiastical book of wisdom, we are reminded that there is a time and season for all things, and all things are beautiful in its designated time.

As I pen this letter, I have many mixed emotions. The time has come for me to retire from my years of service as grief counselor with Dusk to Dawn Bereavement Services. On the one hand, I am joyful and grateful as I anticipate spending more time enjoying my grandchildren and leisure activities. But I am also feeling a great sadness as I leave Dusk to Dawn — my heart’s work. I was called to start grief counseling and the nonprofit out of my own tragic loss. Helping others heal through their pain and losses has been so very rewarding for me — healing my own pain and growing so many enduring friendships from this community.

I had always envisioned Dusk to Dawn enduring long after my departure. While we had great hopes in working toward a succession plan, we now realize disappointedly that Dusk to Dawn will not be able to continue offering nonprofit counseling services as we had hoped. During our season, with your support, we have helped a good many people. But grief and loss will always be with us, and there will always be more work to be done. As concerns over mental health issues continues to escalate, help is becoming more readily available, and we encourage all in need to seek out the help you need. Our website will remain active for a time to offer resources for those in need.

It has truly been my priveledge to be a part of your journeys through vulnerability and pain to help restore wholeness and wellbeing through life’s most difficult experiences. I am also truly grateful for the tremendous support we have had from this community to help make our work possible. I pray for your continued wellbeing and encourage you to continue to build a stronger healthier community by giving generously of your time and resources to help another in need. I will miss you all greatly.
